The Ryozae Alliance

Millions of years ago, an alien race came across a planet rich with natural resources. Many plants and animals were eagerly harvested, but many of those animals would be given a second chance, with unusual gifts of higher intelligence and greater adaptability. They would eventually establish their own cultures, even civilizations, across a strange sector of the Milky Way Galaxy called Xal Enjhi, where some would discover a peculiar brand of quantum “magic” amongst the stars.

We would come to know their Earth-born kin first as dinosaurs, later as birds.

Their star-bound descendants would call themselves Ryozae (pl. Ryozaem).

Welcome to The Ryozae Alliance, an adult science-fantasy epic fiction series.

May 1997. Bernard Sparker, a young Asian American wildlife volunteer, finds a strange creature washed up on a South Carolina beach. A tiny prehistoric being our world has not seen alive in 260 million years. The story it comes with is even stranger: shapeshifting dinosaurs living among us, aliens who hunt them, a wild tale of escaped lab experiments and spacetime manipulation … and one not-so-simple request: Help.

This is the saga of three young men barreling headfirst into chaos and tragedy to save the people and planets they hold dear. Before they can stand and defeat their enemies, however, the ultimate enemy lies within their own hearts, and they’re already out of time.

The oft-requested tentative list of novels. I’ve only given a handful of titles, which belong to the books I spend the most time talking about. I will be adding links as the series develops.

Please note these are all working titles that used as identifiers in order to keep track of the project, and may very well not reflect the finished products. The entire saga was drafted under “Alliance,” and currently sits around 9 books. *I’m particularly uncertain of the titles for 5-7. Most of these arcs have the titles I want, but in my head 4-7 is really 1 arc in 4 acts. In actuality, I’ve been known to call it things like “The Mike Arc,” “The Fallout Arc,” “That Time My Character Hijacked My Plans And It Worked,” and “That Time I Blew Stuff Up.” This is why I say that Plotter/Pantser is BS, because you shouldn’t limit yourself to a single method, and sometimes your instincts are smarter than you think. Writing is an art form. Be free.

THE RYOZAE LIBERATION PREQUELS

Something happened, more than 200 million years ago.

Someone–or something–discovered the recipe for developing sentient life out of seemingly basic vertebrates.

What was created instead was a problem: a group of beings from a distant world, who suddenly had the capacity for advanced thought, stranded across hostile planets unfit to live on, often teeming with violent native lifeforms.

This is the story of that fight for survival. The rise of ideologies and civilizations, and the long, bitter wars. This is the story of how the Ryozaem came to be as they are in modern times, and how the heroes of Alliance first found their place among the stars, before finding their way back to their ancestral home: Earth.
