Liberation (Prequel Trilogy)

How it all began.

Widely regarded as an infestation on every planet they come across, a group of genetically altered, hyper-adaptable dinosaurs are are stuck in hell on a dead end course. They’re millions of light-years from Earth, in a distant sector called Xal Enji. Their attempts at civilization are failing, and their morale is fading with it. They are out of options. They must use their newfound intellects to adapt and survive, as they carve out their own niches in a desperate bid for a place to call “home”.

Three Books

Covering the length of their quest, up to the events preceding Alliance.

The First

. . . is the discovery of a distant planet called Zeron, on the edge of the Xal Enji sector. These are the dinosaurs whose decendents would come to call themselves Ryozae. Parts of the 3rd draft from 2012 can be read on DeviantArt. I was in over my head in terms of taking this story to the next level from its original form, and abandoned it that same year when work on Alliance took over like a bullet train. There were too many things I didn’t know about writing back then, and so many things I didn’t know about worldbuilding, but if you have a DA account, you can read the chaos here.

The Second

. . . covers the million-year war between the denizens of Zeron, which formed its three main classes: Ryozakkan, Kagurral, and Zeronei. The paths of a few lead them back to the other side of Xal Enji, and the events on Earth which prompted the formation of ETHICS. This and the third book were written mainly in short stories and outlines.

The Third

. . . details those final decades leading up to the events before Alliance. After years of slow torment under a restrictive rule, Zeron’s people rise, determined to see an end to a civilization that was doomed in its original concept. When their society fractures, many seek out ETHICS as a way to escape. Also written in short stories and outlines. I won a silver medal in the Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards in 2003 with this one.
